Description:

This is an excellent example of a late 1918 DWM Luger rig. This example has the desirable large "1918" date over the chamber and the "DWM" monogram on the front toggle. The right side of the barrel extension has the three late "Crown/Gothic letter" proofs followed by an Imperial Eagle firing proof, which is also repeated on the right side of the barrel and breechblock. It has standard loaded and safe marking and is correctly numbered as a military Luger. It is fitted with a set of unnumbered, checkered, beechwood grips. It comes with two magazines: one has a tin plated body, and the other one has a polished steel body. Both have unmarked wooden bases. This lot is complete a WWI holster that is marked on the back: "Kern Klager & Cie/1918/Neu-Ulm". The holster is also marked on the inside of the flap with "BAXI" indicating reissue during the Weimar era. The holster has been dyed/painted black, and the takedown tool has been numbered "1689." Both are indicative of a police issue Luger.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 90% of the original blue finish overall and a restored blue finish on the side plate. The smaller parts retain 95% of their refurbished straw colors and wear on the edges. The grips are also in very fine condition with excellent checkering overall and the back sides varnished to protect the wood. Mechanically excellent. The holster is in good condition with clear sharp markings and the surface of the holster showing old age cracks on the flap and toe area.
