This is a very fine example of a scarce pre-war Mauser Banner Dutch contract P.08 Luger manufactured in 1938. There were approximately 1,500 commercial Mauser Banner Lugers produced from 1937-42, and small quantities were sold to various countries throughout Europe. The chamber is dated "1938," and the standard Mauser Banner logo is on the front toggle which has no military proofmarks. The left side of the barrel extension and breechblock have an early "Crown/U" commercial proof. The extractor is correctly marked "GELADEN" for loaded, and the safety area is marked "RUST". The pistol is numbered in the military fashion with the full serial number of "2423" stamped on the frame, underside of the barrel, and the left side of the barrel extension and the last two digits stamped on the various small parts. This scarce Luger is complete with a blued magazine with an aluminum base that is stamped "6517/y/+/Eagle/655."

Very fine with 85% plus of the blued finish overall with very minor edge or high spot wear. The smaller parts retain 60% of the original straw colors. The grips are in fine condition and show minor small nicks and handling marks. It functions mechanically, however it is missing the hold open latch and spring. It has matching numbers except the magazine as noted.
