The introductory year for Mauser P-38s. Fixed sights, with "P.38" and "byf/42" on the left side of the slide and "eagle/135" proofs on a number of components. The full serial number (no suffix) is present on the slide, frame, barrel and locking block. Fitted with ribbed brown plastic grips and a "P.38v" marked magazine, with an extra magazine and a brown leather "gcx/1942/WaAB17" (Karl Brettschneider, Czechoslovakia) holster.

Fine, with 50% of the original blue finish, showing some bright edge wear, areas of gray patina, particularly on the frame, mild spotting and scattered handling marks. The sides of the muzzle are a bit flat, possibly a factory error. The grips are very good, with mild wear. The holster is fair, with a number of scuffs and cracks and some loose stitching on the flap. Mechanically very good.
