Description:

Manufactured late in 1918 with a fixed blade front and flat top rear notch sights. The left side of the slide is stamped with the two-line, two-block address and patent dates on either side of the Rampant Colt logo. Fitted with a later replacement "HS" marked High Standard barrel. The right side of the slide is marked "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY" in the second larger lettering style. The frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" over the serial number on the right side with an "eagle head/S18" inspection mark on the left side to the rear of the trigger. The frame features the heart shaped war expedient cutouts under the grips, long milled trigger, wide borderless checkered hammer, short grip safety, and a smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop. The grips are checkered with diamond patterns at the screws. The magazine is two-toned with a pinned base and no lanyard loop. Includes a "U.S." marked leather holster, dated "1917" on the back with a brown canvas web belt and mill patent double magazine pouch dated Aug. 1918 with two extra later production magazines.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 70% plus of the original dark brush blue finish remaining. Showing areas of high point and edge wear, scattered surface scratches, handling marks, and thinning to a mottled gray patina on the grip straps. The replacement grips are also fine with handling marks and some flat top on the otherwise well defined checkering. Mechanically excellent. The holster is very good with small handling marks, light scuffs, and verdigris at the metal fittings. The belt and pouch are very good.
