Description:

This shotgun is accompanied by a typed letter dated May 2002 and signed by John Hart stating that the shotgun was his for "quite some time". There is also a certificate of authenticity signed by Mick Lefever, agent for John Hart certifying his autograph. John Hart worked as a cowboy in his youth before getting into being a Hollywood stuntman which lead to parts in Westerns and the role of The Lone Ranger. Hart portrayed The Lone Ranger in 54 episodes from 1950 to 1953. In addition Hart played bit parts in hundreds of television shows spanning from the 1930s to the 1980s including shows like "Happy Days" and "Dallas" as well as numerous movies. One of Hart's famous lines is "I had big parts in lousy movies and lousy parts in big movies. I never made a lot of money, but it sure was fun". This is a standard Model 2 single shot shotgun manufactured from 1927 to 1947 with the standard markings, 2 3/4" chambers and choked extra full, and mounted with a checkered forearm and pistol grip stock with a hard rubber grip cap and serrated buttplate. Length of pull is approximately 14".

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The barrel retains approximately 95% original finish with some thinning on the right side. There is evidence of a cleaner or solvent having been used on the muzzle end. The trigger guard has a smooth mottled brown patina. The receiver has aged to a smooth dark patina with some strong traces of the original case colors. The wood is very good with overall minor dings, pressure dents and scratches. The checkering shows moderate to heavy wear with the checkering pattern still very prominent. The markings are clear. The mechanics are excellent. Don't pass this one up or it will be Hi - yo Silver away.
