Description:

Purchased in large quantities by the United States government, with a particular eye for use by cavalry including the 4th, 9th and 10th, the Schofield served alongside the Colt Single Action Army as America's military sidearm, though the Colt design won out in the end. Many Schofield revolvers were purchased by surplus dealers like Schulyer, Hartley & Graham, who are known for refinishing the pistols, shortening them to make them easier to carry and reselling them to agencies like the Wells Fargo Express Company. Blade front and notch rear sights, with the two-line S&W address and patent dates on the left side of the barrel and the Schofield patent data on the right, along with "W.F. & CO. EX. 3506". Fitted with a knurled hammer, smooth trigger, and smooth unmarked two-piece grip.

Rating Definition:

Good. The revolver shows a mixed brown and gray patina overall, with some mild spotting and handling marks overall. The rear sight has been opened up slightly with a file, and some light scratches are present on the frame and barrel. The grips are also good, with light dings. Mechanically fine.
