Description:

This rifle was manufactured in 1884 and has the standard third model guide rail and dust cover. It is equipped with a German silver blade front sight, elevation adjustable sporting mid sight, and a tang mounted Lyman peep sight. It has the standard full length magazine tube, straight grain forearm and stock, and a rifle buttplate with a trapdoor compartment containing the four piece cleaning rod. It has the standard Winchester markings including "38 CAL" on the barrel at the breech and on the elevator in fancy script.

Rating Definition:

Very good. 25% original blue finish remains, mostly in the protected areas, near the side plates, and the balance has a dark gray patina. The peep sight appears to be original and has matching patina. The stock and forearm are also very good with mild handling wear, some small dings and scratches, and some light chipping and very slight cracking on the forend at the junction with the frame. The action functions fine, and the markings are crisp.
