Manufactured in 1876. The top of the barrel is marked with the two-line address/Kings Improvement patent dates ahead of the rear sight, the upper tang is marked "MODEL. 1873," and the serial number is marked on the lower tang. The rifle correctly has no caliber markings. The front sight is integral with the barrel band, and there is a two leaf folding rear sight. Full length magazine tube, blue finish, casehardened hammer and lever and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock fitted with a carbine buttplate with buttstock compartment (cleaning rod not included). The Winchester Model 1873 is one of the most iconic firearms in American history. It was used extensively across America, especially in the Old West, and has appeared in numerous iconic westerns.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The carbine retains 60% original blue finish with a smooth brown patina on the balance. There some tool marks present on the barrel and magazine. Traces of original case colors remain on the hammer and lever. The refinished wood is fine with some minor pressure dents and scratches. The action is fine. Provenance: Robert M. Lee Collection.
