This was the first non-detachable box magazine rifle offered by Winchester. This rifle was manufactured in 1914 and features a Lyman blade front sight and adjustable buckhorn rear sight. The left side of the barrel is marked "NICKEL STEEL BARREL/ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER" and "35 W.C.F.". The left side of the action is marked with the two-line address and patent dates, the Winchester oval proof is marked on the barrel and receiver at the breech and the upper tang is marked " MODEL 1895/WINCHESTER/TRADE MARK REG. U.S. PAT. OFF & FGN.". Fitted with an extra fancy checkered forearm with an ebony forend insert and straight grip stock with a steel crescent buttplate.

Very fine. The rifle retains 97% of the original blue finish with scattered minor handling marks, some minor spotting on the receiver, high edge wear and wear on the magazine from cycling the action. The takedown ring at the base of the barrel assembly is reblued as well as the forward portion of the box magazine. With the exception of a minor crack on the upper left front of the forearm, the wood is fine with a few overall scattered minor dings and handling marks, and crisp checkering. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
