Gunder and Johannse Johnson were active in St. Paul, Minnesota, from at least 1856 until the 1880s. The rifle has "G. JOHNSON & BRO ST. PAUL" on the barrel and lock (two lines), a German silver blade front sight, plain notch rear sight, double set triggers, reverse taper barrel tang, and plain stock with German silver nose cap and two wedge escutcheons and iron furniture.

Rating Definition:

Good. The iron has dark brown patina, some minor oxidation, and light pitting. The German silver has aged patina. The front left escutcheon is absent, and the front ramrod pipe is loose. The stock is good as repaired. There is a stabilized crack through the wrist and behind the lock and some scattered scrapes and dings. The lock is mechanically fine if the triggers are set prior to cocking. The markings are partially obscured on the lock but clear on the barrel.
