Description:

Manufactured by the Eagle Arms Co. in the mid-1860s for Plant's Manufacturing Company who were represented by Merwin & Bray of New York City. This example was retailed by Benjamin Kittredge & Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. It has a German silver "knife blade" front sight, the Merwin & Bray agent markings on the rib, top strap groove rear sight, "B KITTREDGE & CO" in an arch over "CIN. O." on the left side of the frame at the breech, standard Plant patent marking on the cylinder, and matching serial numbers including the right grip. An unmarked flap holster is included.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 90% of the original blue and silver plated finish, muted original case colors on the hammer and trigger, light patination on the barrel and a nicely aged patina on the silver and exposed brass. The grips are also very fine; the right grip has an interesting two-tone appearance, and both have strong original varnish, lower edge wear, and minor handling marks. It mechanically functions, but the cylinder rotates intermittently and needs work. The rare original period holster is fine with mild folding wear on the flap and some internal wear from the revolver.
