Plants Manufacturing Co. Front-Loading Army Revolver

Manufacturer: Plant’s Manufacturing Co
Model: Army
Type: Revolver
Gauge: 42 cup-primed
Barrel: 5 1/4 inch solid rib
Finish: blue/silver
Grip: rosewood
Stock:
Item Views: 2444
Serial Number:
Catalog Page: 58
Class: Antique
Description:

Third Model manufactured in the mid-1860s with the standard markings and features. These revolvers were one of several attempts to work around Rollin White's patent for bored through cylinders and fired "cup-primed" cartridges that could be loaded from the front of the cylinder.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 25% of the original blue finish on the barrel, traces on the cylinder, and gray and brown patina on the balance of the iron. The frame retains 95% plus of the darkened original silver plating. The grips are very good with much of the flaking original varnish remaining, minor scratches, and minor edge wear. The action functions but is very tight and requires hand indexing the cylinder.
