Description:

This revolver has a pinned "half moon" blade front sight, two line address and patent marking ending in the 1871 reissue patent date, standard notch rear sight, matching serial numbers aside from the replacement barrel latch, and checkered grips with the S&W monogram on top. The bottom of the frame, ahead of the trigger guard, has the anchor marking found on Japanese Navy S&W revolvers. The high serial number of this example indicates it would have been purchased through a Japanese importer not directly from the company. Some of these Japanese revolvers were used in WWII and captured by U.S. servicemen.

Rating Definition:

Very good with gray and dark gray patina throughout, mild pitting, traces of original finish, and some marks and scratches appropriate for its age and purpose. The grips are very fine replacements with sharp checkering and mild handling and storage marks. It is mechanically fine and has mostly crisp markings.
