Similar saw handle dueling pistols by the Mortimer family are found in Munson's "The Mortimer Gunmakers, 1753-1923" in "Chapter 10: Duelling Pistols".

Rating Definition:

Good. The pistol has a mixed once chemically cleaned gray patina showing some mild pitting on the barrel (heavier around the bolster). The engraving and markings are crisp. The refinished stock is also good with putty filler in the sighting groove, a few minor handling marks and overall crisp checkering. The set trigger does not function; otherwise it is mechanically fine. The case is very good showing some minor handling/storage marks and some wear to the lining.
