Description:

Introduced in 1928, the Model 28 is a straight-blowback double action only semi-automatic pistol in 9 mm Browning. While using a spring-loaded slide like most 20th century automatic pistols, the 28's slide was not meant to be pulled back by the operator; instead a lever on the right side operates the flip-up barrel to either hand-load the first round or manually extract the cartridge to clear the weapon. This example is fitted with a smooth barrel and a magazine with no spring-loaded cartridge holder, suggesting a transitional model between the earlier "Policeman" and "Pocket" pistols and the Armee. Fixed sights, with "FABRICATION FRANCAISE" on the right side of the slide. The barrel latch and trigger are casehardened, with a set of smooth brass medallions on the grips and a full blue magazine numbered "3" on the base.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 90% plus of the original blue finish, showing some bright edge wear, areas of brown patina and scattered light scratches and handling marks. 60% of the original casehardening remains on trigger. The grips are fine, with some verdigris buildup on the medallions, slight flexing at the upper and lower edges, and a few light handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
