Description:

1) Three Editions of the Famed Abolitionist Newspaper "The Liberator:" November 10, 1843, January 12, 1844 and July 29, 1864. 2) Slave Bill of Sale: Printed form with handwritten details regarding the sale of Kate (age 35) to John Mitchell from Nathaniel Vernon for $250. It was signed at Charleston, South Carolina, on 24 May 1824. It is folded with filing information on the reverse. 3) Slave Bill of Sale: Printed legal size form with handwritten details regarding the sale of Oswald (age 26) and Prince (age 23) to Benjamin Roach of Natchez, Mississippi, from William Inman of Tennessee for $2,100 on 24 February 1853. Prince was $300 less because he had a bad eye. It is folded with filing information on the reverse.

Rating Definition:

1) Very good. Folded and rolled and showing some staining. Overall, the printing is clear. 2) Very good. The form has frayed edges and a couple of period repairs at the edges. The printing is clear. 3) Excellent. The printing is clear. A paper archive that provides a unique glimpse into pre-Civil War American history.
