Description:

Kalashnikov is a name that is synonymous with pioneering, innovation, and forward thinking in the world of small arms development. Born in 1919 and conscripted into the Red Army in 1938 where he served as a tank mechanic in the 24th Tank Regiment of the 108th Tank Division. A self styled tinkerer, Kalashnikov began his career of inventing during his early military training, submitting his first design for a submachine gun in 1942, and designing a gas operated carbine in 1944. These designs culminated in the now iconic AK-47 in 1947 which changed the face of arms design for the decades to come and spawned numerous copies around the world. The rifle features standard post front and tangent rear sight, smooth ventilated hardwood handguard and a hardwood thumbhole stock with a vented recoil pad. Both the right side of the magazine and the buttstock have been signed by General Kalashnikov himself in silver pen. The rifle includes an ATF letter noting it as a Curio & Relic based on the historical significance of the signature by the inventor. Also included is a signed copy of the book "From a Stranger's Doorstep to the Kremlin Gates: A Word from the AK Man" by Mikhail Kalashnikov, an itinerary from the 1998 U.S. visit by the General where the rifle was signed, and a signed photograph of the General from the visit.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 98% plus original finish, light handling marks, and scattered surface scratches. The stock is also excellent with a few small scattered dings and handling marks. The signature is complete and clear. Mechanically excellent. A fantastic opportunity to own a Kalashnikov inspired rifle signed by one of the most famed small arms inventors of the modern age.
