Description:

1) Three Issues of "The Southern Illustrated News:" Dated 27 June 1863 with Gen. Gustavus W. Smith on front; dated 20 June 1863 with Gen. P.G.T. Beauregard on front; and dated 25 July 1863 with Gen. William Loring on front. 2) Rare Confederate Sheet Music "Harp of the South Awake:" words by J.M. Kilgour and music by C.L. Peticolas, registered in 1863, and published in Columbia, SC. This type of Confederate work is very scarce. 3) Two Election Documents from the Confederate States of America: The first document is a printed flyer (6 1/4x4 inches) from Virginia showing the slate of candidates for election and dated 6 November 1861. The reverse is signed "A.C. Spencer." The second document contains a handwritten list of the same candidates for election and is signed on the reverse "G.W. Hooper." 4) Two Issues of the Reconstruction Era Newspaper "Daily Richmond Examiner:" Dated 14 April 1866 and 16 April 1866.

Rating Definition:

1) Very good overall showing frayed edges, aged paper and spotting. The 25 July 1863 issue has taken on a dark aged color. 2) Very good. The paper has aged and shows numerous small spots. 3) Excellent, clearly legible. 4) Fine showing frayed edges and some small tears at the edges. A Confederate paper archive that would work well in any Civil War collection.
