Description:

This is a scarce example of an early Mauser Model 1914 pistol, serial number 309, that was issued to the Prussian State Police (Landjagerei) in the district of Koslin given the "L. K. 95" marking on the right side of the frame. These early Mauser pocket pistols have the distinctive raised "humpback" rear section of the slide. This example had the rare "long" barrel configuration but unfortunately has been shortened to the current length, probably during the Weimar era. It is estimated that less than 1,000 of these early pistol with both those features were actually manufactured, and both attributes were eliminated in the later standard production models. The pistol has the standard three line Mauser address/patent markings on the left side of the slide and the Mauser Banner below that on the frame. The top of the slide, rear of the frame, and the barrel lug are all correctly numbered "309." The top of the slide and barrel lug are all stamped with the commercial "crown/ U" proofmark. It is fitted with a one-piece, wraparound checkered walnut grip and comes with an unmarked early style magazine.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 85% of an old arsenal type refurbished blue finish with minor pitting on the front and sides of the grip strap (under the grip) and the top rear area of the slide. The markings are clear and sharp. The grip is in fine condition with clear visible checkering on both sides and light wear across the checkering mixed with some minor handling marks.
