Description:

Approximately 20,600 percussion carbines were manufactured by Starr Arms Company of Yonkers, New York, during the Civil War for the U.S. government. Starr's revolvers were also the third most widely used by the Union, but the company folded soon after the war and the potential for selling the government arms ended. This example has the standard markings and features, including government inspection marks and cartouches.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The frame is a dark, silvered out patina with shadows of case colors. The balance of the iron surfaces have dark brown patina and scattered marks and scratches. The brass buttplate and barrel band are an attractive "mustard yellow" patina. The wood has some slight chips at the edges, scrapes, dings, and refreshed oil finish. The cartouches are faint, but the other markings are legible. Mechanically fine.
