Description:

This is an excellent example of a cased 1893 Borchardt semi-automatic pistol rig, serial number "673". It is complete with the following accessories: one matching magazine, the dummy magazine, the matching wooden shoulder stock, matching cheekpiece, black leather holster, screwdriver with extra bits, takedown wrench and pin-punches, brass cleaning rod, and oiler all contained in a Borchardt black leather bound carrying case. The Borchardt pistol employed the unique toggling breech mechanism which was eventually adopted and refined by Georg Luger and was used throughout production of the Luger pistols from 1900 through 1942. The top of the chamber area is marked in three lines "WAFFENFABRIK/LOEWE/BERLIN.". The top of the toggle mechanism carries the German patent markings of "D.R.P./No. 75837". The right side of the barrel extension is marked; "SYSTEM BORCHARDT PATENT". The left side of the breechblock, toggle mechanism and barrel extension are all marked with the early German commercial proofs of a "Crown" over "B" and "U" proofs. The left rear section of the barrel is marked with the fully German commercial proofs that consists of the "Crown" over "B", "U", and "G" proofs over "172,28". It is fitted with the original checkered walnut grips. This example includes all the noted accessories, all of which have matching serial numbers to the pistol.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 95% plus of the original blued finish overall, minor edge and high spot wear overall, and some minor spotting/speckling on the grip straps. The smaller parts retain 95% of their early heat blued finish. The walnut grips are in excellent condition with nice, distinct, sharp checkering overall showing no handling marks on the sides. The shoulder stock and cheekpiece are also both in excellent condition showing only very minor handling marks in a couple places. The holster is in good condition overall, a nice black exterior overall with a couple areas of missing leather, and some heavier age crackling overall. The recovered, relined case is in good condition with all the silver plated hinges and locks complete and the key for the case. A very nice high condition late production Borchardt pistol rig.
