Description:

This is an attractive example of a DWM Model 1900 American Eagle commercial Luger pistol. These pistols were the true first commercial contract Luger pistols produced by DWM and can be found in the 2000-19000 serial number range, with this specific pistol falling about mid-way through the production cycle. These pistols were specifically intended for sales in the U.S. market, hence the use of the American Eagle symbol on top of the chamber area, and have the DWM markings on the front toggle. This pistol has all the early desirable Luger features starting with the superb hand fitted parts with the beautiful pre-war high polish rust blued finish, the early long frame, dished toggles with toggle lock on the right side, recessed breechblock, 4 3/4 inch fast tapered barrel, grip safety, no stock lug, straw colored small components and bright polished lower safety area. It is fitted with checkered walnut grips It is correctly serial numbered in the commercial fashion with the full serial number stamped on the underside of the barrel and the front of the frame, which is also marked "GERMANY". The various small parts (breechblock, toggle assembly, trigger, back side of the side plate and take down lever) have the last two digits (39) of the serial number. The magazine is a correct early model with the nickel plated magazine body and the unnumbered wooden base that is marked only "GERMANY."

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 95% blued original finish overall and only the very slightest edge wear in a couple of place. The lower safety area has been professionally touched up, and the various small parts have 99% of a professionally restored straw color which really accents the beautiful original blue finish. The walnut grips are also in like new condition with superb, sharp and distinct checkering on both side sides. Mechanically excellent.
