Description:

1) U.S.N. Horstmann Sword, 35 1/2 inches overall with a 30 inch etched blade marked "Roland R. Killian" on the right, a gilt brass hilt and a wire wrapped simulated rayskin grip. Though not verified, records show a Roland Robert Killian of Montana as having been admitted to the U.S. Naval Academy at Anapolis in 1917, on the destroyer U.S.S. Selfridge as a Lieutenant Junior Grade in 1926, and a Lieutenant at the Philadelphia Navy Yard in 1928 and the 13th Naval District (Washington State) in 1933. 2) Ames Cadet Sword, 34 3/4 inches overall with a 25 1/4 inch etched straight blade, gilt hilt, and a black leather scabbard with gilt fittings.

Rating Definition:

1) Good with some flaking and spotting on the blade and light handling marks overall. The "USN" on the guard appears double-struck. 2) Fine with some spotting on the blade, discoloration and wear on the gilt components, and tape repairs to the scabbard.
