This is an very fine example of a mid-production DWM Model 1900 American Eagle commercial Luger pistol. These early pistols were the first true commercial contract Luger pistols produced by DWM and can be found in the 2000-20000 serial number range with this specific pistol produced in the middle of the production run. These were intended for the domestic U.S. market and thus have the American Eagle crest on the chamber and the DWM logo on the front toggle. This series of Lugers has the early features such as: the long frame, dished toggles with toggle lock on the right side, recessed breechblock, 4 3/4 inch fast tapered barrel, grip safety and no stock lug. They have superb hand fitted parts with the beautiful, pre-war, high polish, rust blued finish and straw colored small parts. The lower safety area is brightly polished and unmarked. It is correctly serial numbered in the commercial fashion with the full serial number (13571) stamped on the front of the frame and underside of the barrel and the last digits (either 71 or 571) stamped on the smaller parts. The front of the frame is also stamped "GERMANY". It is fitted with checkered walnut grips that are both numbered "71" on the back sides. It is complete with one magazine with the nickel plated body and the unnumbered wooden base with "GERMANY" stamped on the wooden base.

Very fine with 80% plus of the original blue finish overall, edge and high spot wear, and the grips straps having a gray patina finish intermixed with some old blue touch up. The smaller parts retain 90% plus of their straw colors overall. The grips are in excellent condition with nice, distinct checkering showing only minor handling marks. A very attractive early DWM Model 1900 Luger pistol.
