Description:

This is a very fine example of a scarce early serial number 3 Czechoslovakian Model 1924 prototype pistol chambered in the rare 9 mm Kurz (380 auto) caliber. Several of the major European handgun manufacturers experimented with chambering this cartridge in their pistols, but most were produced on a very limited basis because the recoil with of this cartridge had a tendency to be somewhat more severe in these small frame pistol than the standard 7.65 mm Auto cartridge. The Model 1924 was very unique in that it used a locked-breech with the nickel patent "rotating barrel" to allow the use of the more powerful 9 mm Kurz cartridge. This design proved to be somewhat overcomplicated and was later changed to just a straight blowback operation in the Model 1927 design. The rib top of the slide is marked "CESKA ZBROJOVKA A.S. v.PRAZE. 3." The left rear side is marked "C/Z 27", and the same mark is found on the spine of the magazine. The serial number "3" is stamped on top of the slide, the side plate, and the right side of the frame extension. It has a set of smooth, one-piece walnut grips and comes with one magazine with a lanyard ring attached to the magazine catch.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 80% of the original blue finish overall mixed with some browning and thinning of the blue finish on the front right side of the slide and grip strap. The smaller parts retain 20% of their straw colors mostly in the protected areas. The grips are in fine condition with a dark brown color overall showing light handling marks and pressure dents on the sides. A very rare early prototype CZ DA Model 1924 in 9 mm Kurz.
