A) Webley W.S Target Model Revolver, 22 Caliber Conversion with "SAP" Markings

Manufacturer: Webley & Scott Ltd
Model: Target
Type: Revolver
Gauge: 22
Barrel: 8 inch solid rib
Finish: blue
Grip: walnut
Stock:
Item Views: 2258
Item Interest: Active
Serial Number:
Catalog Page: 266
Class: Curio & Relic Handgun
Description:

Mechanically similar to the Parker-Hale conversion, though permanent in nature, with a shortened 22 caliber cylinder, a barrel sleeve that extends an extra half-inch to meet the cylinder, the hammer altered with a rimfire striker and a raised blade installed in the original rear sight area. Elevation adjustable front and notch rear sights, "22" stamped on the side of the barrel, "'W.S' TARGET MODEL" on the top strap, and the Webley "winged bullet" on the frame. Fitted with a pair of checkered grips. The back strap is stamped "SAP JD 2" and the interior of the grips and grip straps are stamped and pencil marked to an A.J. Viljoen and "S.A.P./JHB.". Though not verified or documented, the markings suggest that the revolver was the personal property of a South African Police officer located in Johannesburg.

Rating Definition:

Very good as refinished, with 80% of the dull blue, showing mild spotting and handling marks overall, areas of brown and gray patina, and a few scattered dings. The grips are very good, with a few chips absent from the left panel and mild scratches and scuffs. Mechanically fine.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 60% of the original blue finish showing areas of brown patina, bright edge wear and mild handling marks. The grips are very good, with a few dings and scratches overall, as well as some fading to a chocolate brown color. Mechanically excellent.
