Description:

This is an unusual example of a late WWII ac 44 coded P.38 that is unserialized. It has the standard factory acceptance marks however not firing proof or serial number. These unnumbered pistols have been labeled armorer or field assembled variation P.38s. The theory is that all the armorers in the field retained vast numbers of repair or replacement parts, that were fully inspected by the factory just never assembled. At some point someone took a set of these parts and assembled them into a functional pistol at the field level. The left side of the frame is only stamped with a small "ac" in front of the slide release and the left side of the slide is only stamped "P.38/ac44" with no serial number on either part. The right side of the barrel lug is stamped "B 90". The frame, slide and barrel are all factory proofed with a "eagle/359" Waffenamt with no other markings. The locking block is unnumbered but has a single Eagle firing proof. It is fitted with a set of red, ribbed bakelite grips and comes with one blue "P.38" marked magazine.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 98% of the original blue overall showing wear and blue loss on the edges and high spots. The grips are also in excellent condition with minor handling marks on the sides. Mechanically excellent. An interesting variation P.38 pistol.
