Description:

This pistol was built at the French arsenal in Maubeuge and is dated "1813" on the left side of the barrel at the breech and on one of the stamps on the left stock flat. The lock has the standard Maubeuge markings, and there are standard inspection and model markings throughout. A few hundred thousand of these pistols were manufactured by the main French arsenals from 1806 to 1814 primarily for use by the cavalry in pairs during the Napoleonic Wars, and they were also issued to some sailors. Many were still in use into the 1840s, often after having been converted to percussion.

Rating Definition:

Good. The iron primarily displays dark gray and brown patina while the brass has golden tones and aged patina. The stock is also good aside from a chip at the nose of the lock, minor cracking on the left flat and numerous small dings overall. It is mechanically fine and has distinct markings.
