Manufactured in 1940. Also known as the "Bullseye Match Target", the top of the barrel and slide have been fitted with a Colt-King Super Target vent rib, blade front sight with a red insert and adjustable white outline rear sight. The left side of the barrel is marked with the "MATCH/bullseye/TARGET" logo, the left side of the frame is marked "THE WOODSMAN" and the left side of the slide "COLT AUTOMATIC/CAL. 22 LONG RIFLE" followed by the Rampant Colt. The upper left front of the trigger guard is marked with the letter "T" above the Colt triangle "VP" proof. Serrated trigger, non-factory stippled grip straps, blue magazine marked "COLT WOODSMAN/CAL. 22 L.R./MATCH TARGET MOD." and fitted with a pair of Roper style walnut checkered target grips with a right hand thumb rest. The accompanying factory letter verifies the caliber, barrel length, blue finish with grips as "Not Listed" and that it was shipped as 1 of 6 to Beck & Gregg Hardware Co. in Atlanta, Ga. On August 1, 1940. Comes with an original maroon hinged lid box with correct end labels and matching serial number written on the bottom, sight tool and papers.

Very fine plus with 95% strong original finish remaining, showing some muzzle and high point wear and several light scratches. The stippling on the grip straps is well done. The top of the base of the rear sight has been painted black and shows some finish loss and bright metal exposed. There are a few small chips on the left panels lower edge, otherwise only light handling marks and sharp checkering. The markings are gold with and there is some minor loss of gold, otherwise the markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent. The box is very good with some corner and edge wear, some separation on the edges of the lid and some fading.
