Description:

The lock is marked "U.S./M.T. WICKHAM" below the pan and "PHILA/1833" at the tail. The barrel is marked "US/AH/P" (the latter is inset in a star burst pattern) and is dated "1833" on the tang. There is a blade front sight on the front barrel band and a bayonet lug just ahead on the top of the barrel. The stock has a low, flat comb. Many of these muskets were used during the Mexican-American War and were even used to arm desperate Confederate troops during the Civil War.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The metal surfaces have mottled gray and brown patina and mild pitting. The stock is varnished and has some chipping around barrel tang and numerous scrapes. The front barrel band/cap has hammering markings and is ill-fitting. It has also caused the ramrod to be stuck. The lock functions fine, and the markings are clear.
