Description:

This model is also known as the Second Model Allin. They were manufactured in 1866 based on Erskine S. Allin's trapdoor design and are the forerunners of the .45-70 Springfield trapdoor rifles and carbines. It was manufactured using an "1864" dated Springfield Model 1863 rifle-musket fitted with casehardened breech components. The barrel was relined for .50-70 metallic cartridges.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The armory bright components have mild patination and pitting, and the breech retains the dark, oil-quenched coloration. The stock is also very good and has some small nicks and chips. Mechanically fine and has legible markings.
