Description:

Fourth Model manufactured in 1863. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line New York address. The left side of the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT". The left trigger guard shoulder is marked "36 CAL", and the cylinder is roll engraved with the Texas naval battle scene. All complete and partial serial numbers match, the loading lever in un-numbered. Brass cone front and hammer notch rear sights, blue barrel and cylinder, silver plated brass trigger guard and back strap, and casehardened remaining parts. Fitted with a smooth varnished one piece walnut grip.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The metal surfaces have a smooth mottled gray patina. There is some pitting on the cylinder causing the serial number to be illegible, and the scene is visibly clear. 60% original silver remains on the trigger guard and reXWA% on the back strap. There is a very pleasant aged patina on the brass. The "COLTS" on the frame marking has been double stamped, and the "PATENT" is faint, otherwise the markings are clear. The replacement grip is a bit undersized and remains very good with half of the varnish remaining, some lower edge wear, and some scattered minor dents and dings. The action is excellent.
