Description:

This is believed to be the only Minneapolis Palm Pistol with carved pearl side plates. Manufactured in the 1890s, the Minneapolis Palm Pistol is smaller than its similar counterpart, the Chicago Palm Pistol. Only seven shots are held in the revolving turret. The centerfire cartridge is less than 1/2 inch long. The system for holding the side plate is different. The Minneapolis has a butterfly key on the frame that fits in a corresponding slot in the plate. The safety on the rear of the frame rotates to engage the pin on the rotating bar, preventing any further advance. There is correctly no rubber pad on the plunger. The side plates on this particular pistol are pearl and feature unique and highly attractive incised scallop pattern carvings that mimic the shell of an extinct marine mollusk known as an ammonoidea. The removable side plate is marked "THE PROTECTOR MINN. FIRE ARMS CO.," and the opposite side is marked "PATENTED MARCH 6, 1883 **". The matching serial number is found on the frame, magazine and removable side plate. With an original green factory box with picture label on the lid, instruction label on the inside of the lid and parts price list.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The pistol retains 75% plus of the original nickel plated finish with some minor thinning and flaking. The side plates are excellent with a few minor age cracks on one panel and overall light handling marks. The action is excellent. The box is very good with glue repairs on the edges and some moderate corner and edge wear on the lid. All labels are fully intact. The price list is fine with some barely noticeable staining. A exceptional example of a must have for a true squeezer firearm collector. No collection can be called complete without this pistol!
