This late production Winchester Model 1873 SRC was manufactured in 1918. The Winchester oval proof is marked on top of the barrel and receiver at the breech, the upper tang is marked "MODEL 1873/-WINCHESTER-/TRADE MARK. REG. IN THE U.S. PAT. OFF.", and the serial number is marked on the lower tang. Blade front sight and folding ladder rear sight graduated to 200 yards. Integral dust cover rail, saddle ring and staple on the left side of the receiver and mounted on a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a carbine buttplate. The accompanying factory letter verifies the carbine configuration, caliber, that it was received in the warehouse on April 9, 1918, with no shipping date and ticket #62992.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel and magazine tube retain 97% original blue finish with some mild thinning, a very small amount of light spotting and a few minor dings on the tube. The receiver retains 60% original blue finish with loss due to flaking, and there is a smooth brown patina on the exposed metal. The lever retains most of the original finish on the sides, and there is a smooth dark patina on the balance. Most of the original blue remains on the hammer with some minor oxidation and normal usage wear. The wood is also very fine with some scattered minor dents, dings and scratches. The markings are sharp and clear. The action is excellent.
