Manufactured in 1894, the first year of production. The included factory letter confirms the caliber, round barrel and plain trigger. It was received in the warehouse on December 1, 1894, and shipped on December 5, 1894. Equipped with blade front and elevation adjustable rear sight. The top of the barrel is marked with the two-line address ahead of the rear sight and "38-55" at the breech, the upper tang has the three-line model and patent information, and the underside of the frame has the first year production, three digit serial number "773" on the underside. Mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Very good. The rifle shows well-blended cold blue on the barrel and otherwise retains 30% original blue finish with the overall balance a mix of smooth brown and gray patinas. There are tool marks on the barrel and magazine tube. The wood is also very good with some minor pressure dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
