Description:

Manufactured in 1881. The top of the later production replacement barrel is marked with the one-line Colt address, and the left side is roll marked "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER." The left side of the frame is marked with the two-line, three-patent dates. The matching serial number is marked on the frame, trigger guard and back strap. The loading gate is marked with the assembly number "3341". The butt is inscribed "O Connell" (significance unknown). Standard blade front and frame notch rear sights, all nickel finish and fitted with a smooth one piece walnut grip. The accompanying factory letter copy verifies the caliber, nickel finish, barrel length and grips as "Not Listed" and that it was shipped as 1 of 50 to J.P. Moores Sons in New York, New York on January 29, 1881.

Rating Definition:

Very good as replated and rebarrelled. The revolver retains 75% period replated nickel finish with scattered flaking and wear. The exposed areas have a smooth gray patina. The sanded and re-oiled undersized grip remains very good with some tiny dings along the lower edges and overall a few minor dents. The markings remain crisp and clear. The action functions but is slightly out of time.
