Description:

Manufactured in 1850, this is a later production scarce variation of the Colt Model 1848 Baby Dragoon revolver with a loading lever, rectangular cylinder stops and stagecoach holdup scene on the cylinder. These revolvers were in the serial number range of approximately 11,600 to 15,500. The top barrel flat is marked "ADDRESS SAML COLT/NEW YORK CITY" flanked by dashes. "COLT'S PATENT" is marked on the cylinder and stamped on the left side of the frame. The complete matching serial number is marked on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, back strap, loading lever and cylinder. The cylinder pin has the partial number "476." The mis-matched wedge is numbered "410". The right side trigger guard shoulder is stamped with a small letter "T". Brass cone front and hammer notch rear sights, blue barrel and cylinder, silver plated brass trigger guard and back strap, and casehardened remaining parts. Fitted with a smooth one piece varnished walnut grip.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The metal surfaces have a mottled gray patina with some minor pitting on the barrel, loading lever and cylinder. The trigger guard and back strap retain 90% original silver plating with some thinning and tiny blistering, and an aged patina on the butt. The grip is very fine with most of the original varnish, several dents on the right side, some very minor lower edge wear and some minor handling marks. The cylinder scene is 75% visible and clear. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
