Description:

Manufactured in 1866. The top barrel flat is marked with the one line U.S. America address, the left side trigger guard shoulder is marked "36 CAL" and the left side of frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT". All matching complete and partial serial numbers on frame, barrel, grip straps, cylinder pin, cylinder and wedge. The loading lever is un-numbered. The cylinder is engraved with the naval battle scene. Blue barrel and cylinder, silver plated trigger guard and back strap and casehardened remaining parts. Fitted with a smooth varnished one piece walnut grip.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. The barrel retains 20% original blue finish concentrated in the protected areas of the lug and underside flats. There is some flash pitting on the front edge of the cylinder and rear edge of the barrel. The cylinder has a smooth gray patina and a 100% clear scene. The frame and loading lever show strong traces of original case colors with a smooth gray and silver/gray patina on the balance. The brass has a pleasant aged patina with traces of original silver plating in protected areas of the trigger guard. The grip is also very good with patches of varnish remaining, and showing some lower edge wear, a few minor dents on the bottom, and some minor dings. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
