Manufactured in 1861 this is a civilian example of the Colt Model 1860 percussion revolver. The one-line New York address is marked on the top of the barrel. It also has the standard naval battle scene on the cylinder, "COLTS/PATENT" on the left side of the frame, "44 CAL" on the left trigger guard shoulder, and "0" marked below the trigger guard serial number. The three screw frame is cut for a shoulder stock. Matching numbers are found on the barrel, frame, grip straps, barrel wedge and arbor pin. The cylinder has the number "7902." the bras trigger guard is sliver plated. Fitted with a smooth grip. Though metallic cartridges became more widely available after the Civil War, percussion revolvers remained popular even after the Colt Single Action Army was introduced.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The revolver retains 30% original blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. The hammer, loading lever and frame retain 30% original case colors. The trigger guard retains traces of darkened original silver plating. The exposed brass has an attractive patina. The grip is very good showing high edge wear and some minor pressure dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
