Manufactured in 1865. The one-line New York address is on the top barrel flat. The stagecoach hold up scene is on the cylinder along with "COLTS PATENT/No4409," and the left side of the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT". The left side trigger guard shoulder is marked "31 CAL". The complete matching serial number is marked on the barrel, frame, trigger guard and back strap, and the matching partial serial number "4409" is marked on the cylinder and cylinder pin. The wedge is numbered "74409," and the loading lever is not numbered. Casehardened frame and loading lever, silver plated brass trigger guard and back strap, and blue remaining parts. Fitted with a smooth one-piece varnished walnut grip.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains 50% original blue finish. The cylinder retains 40% original finish. The balance is a smooth gray and brown patina. The frame has a smooth silver gray patina with faded original case colors in protected areas. There are traces of the original silver in protected areas of the trigger guard and back strap. The brass has an aged patina. The grip is also fine with much of the original varnish remaining with some lower edge wear and some scattered minor dings and dents. The "PATENT" on the frame is faint; otherwise, the markings are clear. The action is excellent.
