The top strap is marked "HOPKINS & ALLEN MFG CO. / XL NO 5 N.Y. / PAT MAR. 28 1871". Scroll and punch dot engraved frame sides and cylinder with a geometric engraving on barrel, top strap, and back strap. Fitted with smooth bird head grips. The frame under the left grip is numbered "2423" with the number "243" on the barrel, cylinder and cylinder pin.

Very fine. The revolver retains 90% original nickel finish with a drag mark on the cylinder and some scattered minor flaking overall. The original antique slightly undersized grips are fine with some minor scratches and have aged to an even yellow color with a nice grain pattern. The action needs adjustment as mechanism is out of time. The engraving is clear and crisp.
