Gauge: 69
Barrel: 42 inch round
Finish: bright

Stock: walnut

Description:

This musket is marked "LONDON/WARRANTED" on the engraved lock plate ahead of the hammer, U.S. military inspector proofs on the barrel at the breech ("US/LS/US/circled P"), and the date "1836" on the barrel tang. Many militia arms were built using surplus military barrels mated to civilian stocks and parts. The stock has civilian style furnishing including no provision for a sling and cross hatching on the stock wrist. The trigger guard and buttplate are brass.

Rating Definition:

Good as reconverted with a frizzen that does not fully open due to the toe length. The musket has a mix of mottled dark and gray patinas with flash type pitting. The stock is good with cracks found near the lock and lock plate screw. The action needs work as the hammer does not release properly from the cocked position when the trigger is pulled.
