Description:

This pistol has an early bevelled "banana" style lock with "G DANDER" on the bottom edge. The barrel is marked "L LAZARINO" and has a grotesque face. Most of the metal components have scrollwork engraving, and there is also a town scene on the side plate. Barrels by the Lazarino family in Brescia were among the highest quality leading some to copy their markings, especially on guns meant for the Ottoman trade. This pistol appears to be authentically Brescian given Giuseppe Dander (Dandaro/Dandar) was active around 1697-1715 in Brescia. Includes a replacement ramrod.

Rating Definition:

Fair as restocked with brown and gray patina on the iron, enlarged vent, oil staining, mild pitting and oxidation, and aged patina on the brass. The stock is fine with scattered dings and marks, some chipping at the edges of the cap, a crack at the front cross pin, and a chunk absent on the right at the forend tip. The lock functions but will not hold half-cock.
