Description:

Manufactured around 1909-1912, the Union Automatic Revolver bears a strong mechanical resemblance to the Webley-Fosbury Automatic to the point where the base principles are virtually identical: a top-break revolver frame is mounted in a spring-loaded housing and grip assembly, and on discharge the frame is driven backwards by recoil, revolving the cylinder and re-cocking the hammer. The main deviation is that the hammer is mounted to the housing on the Union and no manual safety is included. This particular example appears to be a very early production example, possibly a late stage prototype, showing minor differences in frame and trigger configuration, a generally rougher appearance as often seen on prototypes, and is unmarked except for the hand stamped "PAT.D. APLD.FOR." on the right side of the frame. Fixed sights, with a "zig-zag" cylinder and a pair of checkered grips.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with about 40% of the blue finish, strongest on the barrel, with a mixed brown patina overall, showing a number of areas of spotting. Mechanically needs work as the hammer is slightly out of time. Grips are very good, with a few mild scuffs.
