Description:

This is a rare Stricker (Concurrenz) action German target rifle manufactured by H. Lechner in Nuremberg. It is pictured on pages 340 & 344 of "Alte Scheibenwaffen: Old German Target Arms" compiled by Tom Rowe Vol. I. The receiver ring is marked "H. LECHNER" in silver on the upper right flat at the breech, "D.R.G.M./CONCURRENZ/D.R.G.M." on the top flat, and "NÜRNBERG" (German for Nuremberg) in silver on the upper left flat. The action is engraved with Germanic floral patterns with punch dot backgrounds, a scene of two roe deer on the right, and a stag on the left. Proofs are on the upper right side of the action at the breech and on the bottom of the barrel. The proof date is "MAR. 1916". Removable brass blade front sight on a base with a checkered ramp, removable and adjustable notch rear sight, Weaver scope base, integral peep sight base, double set triggers, and smooth forearm and semi-pistol grip buttstock with scroll carving on the rear of the comb, large cheekpiece, and Pachmayr White Line recoil pad with spacers.

Rating Definition:

Very good as updated (front sight, scope base, and wood). 65% of the original blue finish remains on the barrel. It is largely turning to a deep brown patina, and there are some minor marks and scratches. The breechblock has strong case colors on the sides, and the action and lever have a light gray and brown patina. The forearm and stock are near new with only light handling and storage marks. The action functions excellently, and the markings and engraving patterns are crisp. This is a nice example of a German Schuetzen rifle ready for serious off-hand competition.
