Description:

This is a very rare example of an early DWM Model 1900 commercial Luger pistol that was manufactured for "Carlos Rasetti & Cia" of Buenos Aires, Argentina. This rare Luger comes in an original green leatherette case that holds two spare magazines, a brass cleaning rod, takedown tool and pin-punch and a full box of 7.65 Luger ammunition with an old glued on label that reads, "Carlos Rasetti & Cia". The top of the pistol barrel has the unique roll markings of: "CARLOS RASETTI & Cia BUENOS AIRES". This is the only example we has ever seen or heard of. It is correctly numbered in the early commercial serial number range and has the very low three digit serial number "243". It is numbered on the front of the frame and underside of the barrel with the full serial number and only the last two digits on the various other smaller parts. It does not have any of the typically early commercial/DWM proof and acceptance markings, and this example has the later style "relieved frame". Since its an early Model 1900 Luger, it has all the other early features such as the: short frame, dished toggles with toggle lock, a flat/recessed breech bolt, no stock lug, narrow grip safety, early larger flat style safety lever with coarse checkering, early narrow trigger, flat mainspring and fast taper 4 3/4 inch barrel. It has the first pattern unmarked lower safety area on the frame with the bright polished lower area, and it has the factory fitted hold open device. These Model 1900 pistols were the first true Luger pistols manufactured by DWM and can be found in the 2000-19000 serial number range. They had hand fitted parts with the high polish rust blue finish on the major components, straw colored small parts, and checkered walnut grips. The grips are numbered "43" on the back side of each panel. It is complete with a green leatherette case with accessories noted above that include the original ammunition that is head stamped "DWM/471" same as the box lid. On the outside of the case, there is a 3 3/8th inch diameter round medallion screwed on top that reads: "ARMERIA DE PARIS/PISTOLA/PARABELLUM/Nu. 243/CAL. 7.65/CARLOS RASETTI & Cia/RIVADAVIA 526-BUENOS AIRES"

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 60% plus of the blue finish overall, edge and high spot wear, and blue loss on the side plate, the grips straps, the muzzle and front frame rails. The smaller parts retain 45% of their straw colors overall with slightly more in the protected areas. The grips are in very good condition with nice distinct checkering on the outside mixed with moderate wear and flat spots along the edges and minor light handling marks in the center on the right side. The case and accessories are all also in fine condition .
