Description:

This is a very fine example of an early and fairly rare DWM Model 1906 First Issue Navy Luger. It has the correct blank chamber area with the front toggle link stamped with the standard DWM logo markings. This pistol as noted is an early commercial model in that it does not have the standard Imperial German Navy proof markings found on the Navy Lugers, instead it has only a single small, military style "Crown/M" Navy proof on the underside of the barrel over the serial number along with the commercial crown over "B", "U" and "G" stamps. This example is numbered in a commercial manner with the full serial number stamped on the front of the frame and underside of the barrel. This specific pistol still retains it first position "GESICHERT" safety markings in the lower safety area with the standard "GELADEN" extractor markings. It is fitted with a six inch Navy barrel with a standard front sight and the two position "100/200" meter Navy type rear sight,1906 type grip safety and stock lug. It has unnumbered checkered walnut grips and is complete with a nickel plated magazine with a "CAL 9m/m" marked wooden base with concentric circles on the side. Included with the pistol is a red velvet lined hardwood case, extra magazine (configured as the one in the pistol), a box of Remington-UMC Kleanbore 9mm Luger hollow-point ammunition, barrel brush, takedown tool and a padlock for the case.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as professionally restored, with 90% plus high polish blue, showing some mild handling marks, bright edge wear and light spotting. The side plate has been restamped to match the frame. The recut grips are fine with some dents and flat spots. The custom made case is very good with staining and wear, and the box shows stains, hand-marking and torn ends. Mechanically very good.
