Manufactured in 1943 for police issue, the very low serial number and lack of suffix markings indicate that this P-38 was made very early in the year. Fixed sights, with "P.38" and "byf/43" on the left side of the slide, "eagle/n" proofs on the slide, barrel and locking block, and the "eagle/swastika L" Police proof on the right side of the slide. The matching un-suffixed number "44" is present on the slide, frame, barrel and block. Fitted with a pair of ribbed grips. Included with the pistol is an extra magazine and a military brown leather flap holster marked "P38", "jhg/44" and "WaA41" (Gustave Genschow aka Geco, Berlin) on the back.

Fine with 40% of the original blue finish, showing bright gray along the sides of the slide and frame, bright edge wear, mixed brown on the front strap and mild handling marks. The "L" proof has been "double struck". The grips are very good, with some light scuffs and wear. The holster is good, showing some scuffs and tears. Mechanically excellent.
