Description:

Reportedly, less than 2,000 of these single shot rifles were manufactured in the 1860-1870s. It has a globe front sight, adjustable notch rear sight graduated from 0 to 10 on the side of the frame, and tang peep sight with revolving disk. The barrel has the two-line address and 1860 patent date marking. The forend is numbered "751," the barrel is numbered "51," and an illegible number is on the lower tang. The right side of the buttstock has a silver presentation plaque that reads, "Charles C. Entrikin/From/L. Hassell Lapp/August 22nd 1868." At the time of this writing, Charles C. Entrikin remains unidentified. Research has found a L. Hassell Lapp (1846-1898) living in Philadelphia and working in the pharmaceutical business as the president of the Lapp Drug Company.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The rifle has traces of blue with the balance a smooth dark patina overall with traces of case colors remaining on the hammer and breechblock. The wood is good with a repaired once separated forearm, a few hairline cracks near the receiver tangs and a number of minor pressure dents and scratches. Mechanically fine.
