This 50 Caliber black powder rifle is number 38 of 1,000 manufactured in 1978. It features a fixed blade front sight and adjustable rear sight. Engraved with "Jonathan Browning Mountain Rifle" on the top barrel flat. The lock plate has a raised likeness of Mr. Browning. Single set trigger with iron trigger guard. Fancy walnut stock with pewter forearm cap, commemorative Browning Centennial plate inset on the right side of the buttstock, and iron crescent buttplate and wood ramrod with brass tips. Complete with commemorative powder horn numbered to the gun with leather strap and marked "Jonathan Browning/MOUNTAIN RIFLE/1878-1978/038 of 1000", Browning French fitted Alder wood case with a leather "BROWNING" patch affixed to the lid, spare nipple, nipple wrench, and patch puller. The original box is also included. The serial number matches the other guns and knives in this lot.

Excellent with 97% original brown finish on the barrel, lock and other components. Displaying light handling marks, a small scratch on the lock plate, and scattered light surface oxidation throughout. The wood is excellent with light handling marks. The case and accessories are excellent.

Manufactured in 1978, these carbines were of limited production with only 6,000 having been made. Inscribed in gold "BROWNING/1878-1978/CENTENNIAL" on left side of receiver with light scroll engraving on both sides. Features fixed front and adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sights, gold washed saddle ring and trigger and plain forearm and straight grip stock with a steel buttplate. Includes a hardwood display case with a fitted red velvet interior and the original box. The serial number matches the other guns and knives in this lot.

There is a game scene engraved on both sides of the receiver. The left side has a gold inlaid bull elk with an engraved wilderness scene in an oval with floral scroll surrounding it. The left side is signed on the lower rear "LACAMPO". The right side has a gold inlaid quail in an engraved tree and grass wilderness scene surrounded by floral scroll engraving. The bottom of the receiver is engraved with a bust of John M. Browning with two banners below it with one engraved "1878" and the other "1978". The set of rifle barrels are stamped with the matching serial number over a "1", has a beaded blade front sight on a hand matted ramp, a flip up elevation adjustable rear sight on a hand matted pedestal and its own nicely figured, multi-point checkered walnut forearm with Schnabel tip. The set of 20 gauge barrels are stamped with the matching serial number over a "2", have a single nickel bead sight, are choked full/modified, have 3 inch chambers with ejectors and its own forearm. Mounted on a beautifully figured, straight grip walnut stock with Browning plastic buttplate. Stock measurements are: drop at comb 1 7/8 inches; drop at heel 2 inches; length of pull 14 inches. Includes a Browning takedown case, original box and papers. The serial number matches the other guns and knives in this lot.

With a display case lined in red velvet for the gun and a manual. Also included are three Browning Centennial Edition folding knives with matching serial numbers, stag horn grips, and brass fittings. The knives include a hardwood display case with a fitted red velvet interior. The pistol and knives have matching serial numbers to the other guns in this lot.
